Description

Platt vs. Lanson Execution Record Collection (New Haven County Superior Court, 1841)

Overview

This collection comprises scanned images and OCR‑extracted text of the execution record for the 1841 case Platt vs. Lanson filed in the New Haven County Superior Court. The record documents the auction and settlement of the debtor’s personal property following a judgment. The material is held by the Connecticut State Library and is in the public domain. It is presented in English and includes three principal pages (4–6) of the original execution docket, available as JPEG and TIFF files.

Background

The case was executed on 8 April 1841 in New Haven, Connecticut. The record was prepared by constable Joseph Kneival and overseen by attorney Jonathan Stoddard. The Connecticut State Library’s New Haven County court project, part of the NHSC BAAI (Black, African American, and Indigenous History) initiative, has digitized these pages to support research on 19th‑century legal and economic practices affecting minority communities.
