@college_file:document {title: "College file"}March 15th, 1850 Present—Preston, Birdsell (Cleveland) Temple (late), & Fessell. On motion the section of By-laws relative to officers was reconsidered. On motion the word "corresponding" before "secretary" was stricken out. Prof Preston read a letter from Ohio which gave rise to some doubtful direction on the subject of Beneficiaries—after which Dr Fessell (Cleveland) and Preston were appointed committee on Beneficiaries for the current year, with discretionary powers to admit students by payment in these promiscuous notes or otherwise as may be agreed upon, which agreement shall be recognized by the Faculty. Dr Fessell (Cleveland) & Temple were appointed committee on Museums for the year— The subject of the duties of officers was then taken up—and articles 3rd, 4th & 5th were finally adopted. The sum of two dollars was directed to be paid to the secretary as a fund for correspondence. Resolved that all letters received by the officers relative to the affairs of the College be submitted to the Faculty at each meeting.
Resolved that all files of the correspondence of the Faculty be permanently preserved in the College building. Moved that when we adjourn it be to Friday the 23rd inst at 3 P.M. Adjourned Edwin Fussell M.P. Dean March 23, 1860. Present: Preston Fussell, Semple, Coalter & Cleveland. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Prof. Preston presented a letter from Col. B. Peirce in regard to the application of the Corporators & Managers of the College for an appropriation from the Legislature. Stating that on inquiry he found the Phil. Members of the House in sympathy with the Penn College, but intimating that if our applications had been made earlier it might have met with favor.
