- # SORNATS.
Or else of thee this I prognosticate,
Thy end is Truthes and Beauties doome and date.
## 15
**W**Hen I consider every thing that grows
Holds in perfection but a little moment.
That this huge stage presenteth nought but showes
Whereon the Stars in secret influence comment.
When I perceive that men as plants increase,
Cheared and checkt even by the selfe-same skies
Vaunt in their youthful sap, at height decrease,
And were their braue state out of memory.
Then the conceit of this inconstant stay,
Sets you most rich in youth before my sight,
Where waltfull time debateth with decay
To change your day of youth to fullled night,
And all in war with Time for love of you
As he takes from you, I ingraft you new.
## 16
**B**Vt wherefore do not you a mightier wale
Make warre vppon this bloudie tirant time?
And fortifie your selfe in your decay
With meanes more blesfed then my barren rime?
Now stand you on the top of happie houres,
And many maiden gardens yet vnset,
With vertuous wish would beare your liuing flowers,
Much liker then your painted counterfeit:
So should the lines of life that life repaire
Which this (Times pensel or my pupill pen)
Neither in inward worth nor outward faire
Can make you liue your selfe in eies of men,
To giue away your selfe, keeps your selfe still,
And you must liue drawne by your owne sweet skill.
## 17
**V**VHo will beleeue my verse in time to come
If it were fild with your most high deserts?
