- # The Play of
Tha. A Prince of Macedon (my royal father)
And the deuce he bears upon his Shield,
Is an Armed Knight, that’s conquered by a Lady:
The motto thus in Spanish: *Pue Por dolce a kio per forfu.*
3. Knight. Km. And with the third?
Thas. The third, of Antioch; and his deuce,
A wreath of Chiusly: the word: *Me Pompey pronexit apex.*
4. Knight. Km. What is the fourth?
Thas. A burning Torch that’s turned upside down;
The word: *Que me alu me cuttogun.*
Km. Which shewes that Beautie hath his power & will,
Which can as well enflame, as it can kill.
5. Knight. Thas. The fift, an Hand ensironed with Clouds,
Holding out Gold, that’s by the Touchstone tride:
The motto thus: *Sur fritta ardu fide.*
6. Knight. Km. And what’s the fixt, and laft; the which,
The knight himself with such a graceful courache defluenced?
Thas. Hee feemes to be a Stranger: but his Present is
A withered Branch, that’s only greene at top,
The motto: *In hoc for vano.*
Km. A pretty morrall fro the deiceted state wherein he is,
He hopes by you, his fortunes yet may flourish.
1. Lord. He had need meane better, then his outward shew
Can any way speak in his just command:
For by his rustic outside, he appears,
To haue practis’d more the Whipstock, then the Launce.
2. Lord. He well may be a Stranger, for he comes
To an honour’d tryumph, strangely furnish.
3. Lord. And on set purpose let his Armour rust
Vntill this day, to frowre it in the dust.
Km. Opinion’s but a foole, that makes us scan
The outward habit, by the inward man.
But stay, the Knights are comming,
We will with-draw into the Gallerie.
Great fowles, detail cry, the moose Knight.
