## Contents
The sonnet explores the relationship between the speaker's eye and heart, suggesting a symbiotic connection where each serves the other. When the eye craves a glimpse of the beloved, it feasts on their portrait, satisfying the heart. Conversely, the eye acts as a guest to the heart, sharing in its thoughts of love. The poem concludes by asserting that even in sleep, the beloved's image, seen by the eye, awakens the heart, ensuring their constant presence.

- Etwixt mine eye and heart a league is tooke,
And each doth good turnes now vnto the other,
When that mine eye is famisht for a looke,
Or heart in loue with fighes himfelfe doth fmother;
With my loues picture then my eye doth feast,
And to the painted banquet bids my hearts
An other time mine eye is my hearts guest,
And in his thoughts of loue doth share a part.
So either by thy picture or my loue,
Thy felfe away, are present still with me,
For thou nor farther then my thoughts canft moue,
And I am still with them, and they with thee.
Or if they fleepe, thy picture in my fight
Awakes my heart, to hearts and eyes delight.
