## Contents
The text of this section is a poetic passage from Shakespeare's "Venus and Adonis." It describes Venus's reaction to seeing Adonis wounded. The passage uses similes to convey her distress, comparing her reaction to a falcon stooping to a lure, a snail retracting into its shell, and a king disturbed on his throne. Her eyes are described as withdrawing in horror and then leaping back out due to the shock of the scene. The passage highlights Venus's overwhelming grief and her internal turmoil.

The graffé stoops not, the treads on it so light,
And in her haft; unfortunately spies,
The foule boares conquest, on her faire delight,
V V hich feene, her eyes are murdered with the view,
Like stars a sham'd of day, themselves withdrew.
Or as the shaile, whose tender homes being hit,
Shrinks backward in his shellie caue with paine,
And, there all smoothred vp, in shade doth fit,
Long after fearing to creepe forth againe:
So at his bloodie view her eyes are fled,
Into the deep dark cabbins of her head.
V V here they resign their office, and their light,
To the disposing of her troubled braine,
V V ho bids them still consort with ougly night,
And neuer wound the heart with lookes againe,
V V ho like a king perplexed in his throne,
By their suggestion, giues a deadly grone.
V V hereat ech tributarie subiect quakes,
As when the wind imprisoned in the ground,
Struggling for passage, earths foundation shakes,
which with cold terror, doth mens minds confound:
This mutinie ech part doth so surprise,
That fro their dark beds once more leap her eies.
