The
further emendations which
disting-uish
subsequent

comparatively
unimportant.
But typographical

mostly of
a
minute
kind, never
ceased. By
the
time the
text
reached
editors
and
printers
of
the
eighteenth
century
it
had gradually
travelled
far
from
that of the
original
issue, all
copies of
which
for a
long
time
disappeared.
At the
beginning of
the
nineteenth century
Malone
recovered
a
copy of
the
editio princeps^
and with
its
aid he restored thetext to
its
primordial
shape.
