Overview

This collection is a digitized selection of pages from the minute book of the Female Medical College of Pennsylvania (FMCP), covering faculty meetings, commencement proceedings, and financial reports from 1861 to 1863. Background

The FMCP, founded in 1850, was the first institution regularly organized to train women in medicine. Minutes were recorded by faculty members and the college secretary, Emeline H. Cleveland, and preserved in the Drexel College of Medicine Legacy Center Archives. The documents illustrate the college’s governance, curriculum development, student admissions, and financial oversight during a formative period of women’s medical education in mid‑19th‑century Philadelphia.
