# Meeting on Oct 24, 1850 ## Overview This entity is a digitized textual segment representing the minutes from a faculty meeting held on October 24, 1850, at the College Building of the [Female Medical College of Pennsylvania](arke:01KG32C06FD9K6ZP2KZBJPTP7W) in Philadelphia. It was extracted from a larger transcript of the institution’s minute book and corresponds to lines 149–175 of the source file [drexel_test_processed.txt](arke:01KG32AHNW242BGXQVDZD038ZB). The segment was created on January 28, 2026, as part of the [Test Collection](arke:01KG2T49K0H5GDRB0G4YDTPG8H). ## Context The meeting minutes are part of the [Minute Book of the Faculty of the Female Medical College of Pennsylvania](arke:01KG32C06FD9K6ZP2KZBJPTP7W), a formal record documenting the administrative and academic decisions of the faculty during the 1850 academic year. This segment directly follows the [Meeting on Oct 28, 1850](arke:01KG32DRKRGYCGNVZ416S1W371) in the sequence of recorded meetings and precedes the [Meeting on Oct 11th, 1850](arke:01KG32DSG21H570HCTX3261C5X), indicating a non-chronological ordering likely due to transcription or assembly. The original content was digitized and processed through automated workflows before being segmented into discrete entries for archival access. ## Contents The minutes record several resolutions passed by the faculty. First, the faculty resolved not to assume responsibility for debts incurred by individual members unless formally authorized by a collective vote. Second, each faculty member agreed to contribute $5 to a common fund for advertising the college in city newspapers; a committee consisting of Drs. Dickerson and Gleason was appointed to oversee this. Third, the faculty voted to settle and close the account with Mr. Pease. The entry also references the use of lecture rooms and includes a resolution by Dr. Gleason recommending that the managers of the Lying-in Asylum admit individuals deemed most deserving of its services. The meeting concluded with an adjournment.
